Fresh Apple Cake

One of last year’s BEST cake recipes as voted on by our viewers!! This apple cake is amazing and so simple to make!

Fresh Apple Cake

Love this cake because it is so simple to make. Only 3 ingredients. Do NOT mix up the cake mix as instructed on the box. You just need apples, dry cake mix and butter for this recipe. Just takes a few minutes and it tastes amazing! Top with vanilla ice cream while its still warm!

The trick to making this cake is to make sure you use lots of butter and spread it around well so that the cake mix gets moistened and doesn’t end up dry.

You can either peel the apples or cut them up with the peeling still on. You can also use other fruit, it doesn’t have to be apples.

Total Time 35 mins
Servings 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 6 cups apples
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix
  • 3/4 cup butter melted

Instructions

  • Layer your 6 cups of apple slices peeled and cut up (or other fruit) at the bottom of a pan that has been coated with non-stick spray.
  • Sprinkle on boxed cake mix.
  • Pour 3/4-1 cup of melted butter over the fruit and dry cake mix. Pour slowly and allow butter to be absorbed by the dry mix. (You may find you need a bit more butter if that isn't enough but I only use 3/4 cup.)
  • Bake at 350 for approximately 35-45 minutes. It's done when it is nice and bubbly.

I love this type of cake. I used to make it when my husband was alive. I will make it for my son birthday in October.
